Brazing
Vacuum brazing employs a vacuum as an ambient atmosphere so components undergoing the brazing process will not react with excessive oxygen, moisture, nitrogen, or other gaseous contaminants. We can create a super clean, high vacuum environment that assures filler alloys wet and flow onto the metal surfaces and capillary joints as intended.
Our vacuum brazing services offer a clean process that removes harmful oxides and prevents undesirable reactions that in turn give us high quality braze joints. For these reasons, vacuum brazing is particularly well suited for joining complex geometries, precision assemblies and materials like titanium, free of contamination. This method has been highly sought after by the semiconductor, medical, and aerospace industries because it can hold tight tolerances, is a clean process, and provides time and cost savings. Bright, clean and beautiful parts are produced without the need for costly post-processing. Furthermore, one advantage often overlooked is there is virtually no limit on wall thickness when brazing complex assemblies or part geometries compared to more traditional welding processes.
Scarrott Metallurgical’s extensive experience in materials joining enables us to customize our vacuum brazing services and ensure the best process conditions for your assembly application. We perform vacuum brazing services for a diverse array of aerospace applications, including sensors, detectors, cathodes, cold plates, heat exchangers, and biomedical assemblies. Materials joined include titanium, copper, stainless steel, ceramics, PH steel, tungsten carbide, high nickel, sapphire, and more upon request. Standard vacuum levels run at Scarrott Metalurgical are consistently in the 10-5 torr range and higher. Our high purity Argon has a dew points of less than -110ºF, which significantly exceed industry standards. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our parts, the expertise of our brazing technicians and turn-around times.
